Where deep roots inspire curious minds.

Growing Together, Naturally

Mesquite Bosque Academy Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status. Our mission is to cultivate curiosity, creativity, and connection through hands-on, nature-based enrichment experiences that support the academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth of children. Rooted in the rhythms of the Sonoran Desert, we gather weekly in small cohorts to explore gardening, art, movement, practical life skills, and community-building, guided by Montessori-inspired principles and a belief that children thrive when learning is grounded in nature and supported by one another.

2026 Late Summer Program

Trailhead at the Bosque (July 27-31)

Before the school year begins, we gather once more in the shade of the mesquite to reset, reconnect, and prepare for the year ahead. Trailhead at the Bosque is a five-day, end-of-summer program designed to help children ease back into learning rhythms through hands-on exploration, creative projects, practical life skills, and meaningful time together in community.

Each day offers a steady balance of outdoor time, guided activity, and open exploration that supports children in rebuilding focus, strengthening routines, and reconnecting with themselves and each other after summer. This session builds confidence, nurtures independence, and prepares young learners to step into the new school year feeling grounded, capable, and ready.

  • Ages: 5–9

  • Dates: July 27–31

  • Time: 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Location: Tubac Community Center – Room 1

  • Program Contribution: $200 per child

Rooted Fridays

Join the Curious Coyote Community

Rooted is a weekly, Montessori-inspired, nature-based enrichment program for children ages 5–9. Through hands-on projects, outdoor exploration, practical life skills, creative expression, somatic movement, and meaningful work, children build confidence, independence, and a deeper connection to the natural world in a small mixed-age community.

Every Friday is a complete experience, inviting children to explore, create, observe, move, and wonder without screens, busywork, or one-size-fits-all activities. Families are welcome to join us for a single Friday or the full session, and every child has a place in the Curious Coyote community.

This fall, our seasonal theme is Learning Where You Live, using the Santa Cruz River Valley as our classroom. From the mesquite bosque and Sonoran Desert to local history, art, wildlife and community landmarks, children will discover the people and places that make our region unique while developing curiosity, stewardship, and a lasting sense of belonging.

As a nonprofit, Mesquite Bosque Academy is committed to making high-quality, nature-based learning accessible to families throughout the Santa Cruz River Valley. Participation is offered through a suggested contribution that supports educators, materials, scholarships, and future programming.

Children should bring:

  • Packed snack, healthy lunch and full water bottle

  • Sun protection, sturdy outdoor clothing and tennis shoes

  • Curiosity and a willingness to explore

Every Friday is a new adventure, view calendar HERE!
